William A. Wellman

Nació el 29 de febrero de 1896 en Brookline (Massachusetts, Estados Unidos).
Ganó el Oscar a mejor guión original por "Nace una estrella" [A Star Is Born] (1937, junto con Robert Carson); fue nominado a mejor director: por esa misma película, por "Fuego en la nieve" [Battleground] (1949) y por "Débiles y poderosos" [The High and the Mighty] (1954).
Dirigió "Alas" [Wings] (1927), "El enemigo público" [The Public Enemy] (1931), "Beau Geste" (1939), "Incidente en Ox-Bow" [The Ox-Bow Incident] (1943), "Cielo amarillo" [Yellow Sky] (1948) y "Caravana de mujeres" [Westward the Women] (1951).
Falleció el 9 de diciembre de 1975.
